A landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, acts as a middleman between the exploration companies and the landowners. Typically, a land manager’s job is to negotiate and enter into contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, living quarters for workers (man camps), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solver, and mediator. Referenced in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). So far the show is good, very good, one feeling I can’t shake is the daughter. In the show they state the daughter is 17 and then sexualize her in an extreme way! Shower scene, talking about sex with her dad, showing her butt! All these scenes have nothing to do with the plot and make it an uncomfortable sight. I understand what they are doing with the character, a daughter who is going down the wrong path and her dad will put her on the right path. Could have easily been avoided by just saying she is 18, you can be 18 and still be in high school! I wish they had rewrote their bylaws, I have no idea how this went down with the editors.
